Meridian boosts senior team

Exploration drilling contractor Meridian Drilling has appointed accountant David Barber as its new company secretary.

Meridian boosts senior team

Barber joined the company in January 2015 as financial controller, following more than 25 years in a variety of senior roles in the transport and manufacturing industries.

Barber commented: "In some respects the first six months have been a learning curve as I'm new to the drilling industry, although the same principles apply here as with any other industrial contractor. Meridian has so many exciting prospects ahead, and I look forward to my first visit to the operations in Africa in the near future."

The Lancashire-born accountant worked in a variety of roles and operations for several transport companies, focusing on haulage, storage shipping and distribution.

Meridian Drilling's managing director Jeremy Moore said: "David has a wealth of experience in industry, transport and logistics that has been directly relevant to our company. This experience and enthusiasm has made him an instant asset to our team."

Barber is in charge of all financial and administrative dealings within Meridian Drilling, from drawing up contracts to overseeing the accounts and payroll department.
