The Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) has elected Hayward Baker director John Wolosick as its president.

DFI is an international association of contractors, engineers, suppliers, academicians and owners who are actively involved in the deep foundations industry.

Wolosick is the director of engineering for geotechnical contractor Hayward Baker's Atlanta office, where he is responsible for engineering design and business development support for its offices nationwide.

With over 35 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and contracting, Wolosick specialises in slope stabilisation, support of excavation, soil nailing, micropile foundations, including underpinning, and all types of grouting.

As an active member of the industry, he is the author of more than 35 technical papers, and was the recipient of the 2008 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)/Geo-Institute Martin S. Kapp Foundation Engineering Award.

Currently, Wolosick serves as a member of the ASCE Earth Retaining Structures Committee. He is a former vice-president and trustee of the DFI, co-chair of the International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC)/DFI Micropile Committee (2004-2007), and chair of the ASCE/Geo-Institute of Georgia Geotechnical Committee (2003-2005).
