First European assignment for KLEMM's new KR 806-4GM

Since its launch at CONEXPO in Las Vegas earlier this year, KLEMM has had its KR 806-4GM drilling rigs in use at various construction projects around the USA. Now one of the new rigs has begun its first assignment in the European Market.

KLEMM Bohrtechnik recently put the first anchor drilling rig type KR 806-4GM into operation on the European market

With a newly developed kinematics system and a net weight of approximately 21.9t (without pipes), the new KR 806-4GM rig allows for a maximum magazine load of 1,100kg. The maximum diameter for the casings is 178mm and the usable length of the pipe pairs is 3,000mm. Both plain drill rods and drilling augers can be used as internal rods.

The MAG 6.1 drum magazine and manipulator is an upgrade of the tried-and-tested MAG 7.0 magazine. These types of magazines feature a rotatable drum, which ensures that the equipment operator always has a good view of the drill rod to be positioned.

For the drive system, KLEMM copied the proven design of the KR 806-3G. The Volvo-Penta diesel engine with an output of 160kW complies with the latest emissions regulations.

With the purchase of its new anchor drilling rig, Tecimasa S.L.U., a Spanish Viuda de Sainz Group company and long-standing customer of KLEMM Bohrtechnik GmbH, relied once more, on state-of-the-art technology from KLEMM.

In August a KR 806-4GM was commissioned in cooperation with KLEMM's partner KMMB Demolición y Perforación (Madrid), and the very first assignment took place at a construction site in the outskirts of the Basque industrial and port city of Bilbao.

For the construction of a new building with an underground car park, anchor holes with a casing diameter of 152mm and a drilling depth of 9 - 12m were drilled in an ambient temperature of over 40C. The drilling rig equipped with a manipulator and a revolving magazine (MAG 6.1) drilled the rods into the ground with a down-the-hole hammer.

The KR 806-4GM allows the installation of heavy double heads for drilling in rotary/rotary-percussion mode (KD 25/KD 1215R) and in rotary/rotary mode (KH 25/KH 21). It also allows for the use of powerful hydraulic hammers (KD 2524).
