Based in Italy and supplying rigs to piling specialists around the world, Geax has specialised over the years in the production of compact high-quality drill rigs. The largest unit the company produces is also its most sought after - the EK110.

Weighing in at 31t in standard Kelly configuration, the EK110 is a compact machine relative to the industry average, but thanks to its characteristic Geax architecture it offers greater productivity compared to traditional piling rigs. Geax's unique architecture is characterised by a supporting long boom and a special sliding mast driven by two hydraulic cylinders. This ensures great freedom in positioning the mast, allowing various drilling configurations, such as long-reach, low-clearance or a very high tool discharge position for casings.

With this compact architecture and greater stability, the EK110 can drill in any site including slopes, uneven terrain and narrow spaces and the higher manoeuvrability allow fast movements compared to a traditional piling rig.

The EK110 is offered in two versions: the standard with fixed tracks and the L version with expandable tracks and a longer mast.

Similar to the other EK machines, the EK110 can be transformed in various drilling configurations including telescopic Kelly piling, CFA, diaphragm walls, soil-mixing or hydraulic hammer. This is achieved with simple transformation kits in few hours thanks to the modular design philosophy.

The CFA version of the EK110 exploits the unique and innovative crowd system for CFA piles patented by Geax: the BPS system. Thanks to a locking mechanism, the rotary can be locked at any height against the drill mast, and two large hydraulic cylinders can be used to drive the full mast assembly together with the auger to provide a very high crowd force when the hardest soil layers occur.

When asked about the EK110, Geax sales director Alessandro Baldazzi states: "The EK110 is one of our most appreciated rigs and it is easy to see why. With efficiently engineered hydraulics and the use of high-quality components, the EK110 offers superior performance relative to its size. At the same time, it is easy to transport, it requires minimal maintenance, and it guarantees overall very low running costs. It also offers the maximum flexibility of use thanks to the various drilling kits available."

In summary, the Geax EK110 represents the pinnacle of the Italian manufacturer range and perfectly represents the Geax mission of building high-quality drills with compact dimensions that can offer very good performance and longevity.
