Ivor King Piling gets 6th Giken silent piler

AGD Equipment has sold a 6th Giken silent piler to Ivor King Piling. The model that was sold - a Giken ECO700S Supercrush piler – has already been put to use on a project at Minworth Sewage Treatment Works in Sutton Coldfield, UK.

Due to the risk of landslip coupled with adverse ground conditions, Ivor King deployed Giken Supercrush technology with the new rig. The resultant pile line spans almost half a kilometre and is comprised of 750Nr PU28-1 steel sheet piles ranging from 7 to 11m in length, complete with weep holes at regular intervals to overcome groundwater pressure over the retained height.

Further involvement in the project from AGD included the supply of all the cranes required for the £1.4 million (US$1.8 million) project. The 70ts IHI DCH700 crawler crane was the first machine ever sold by AGD Equipment to Ivor King and helped to develop the relationship that has extended over 25 years.

AGD Equipment also hired Ivor King a 25t Marchetti Sherpina telescopic crawler crane and Giken CB2-5 7t clamp crane. The clamp crane walks along the piles following the Giken as it advances making it ideal for working in restricted access sites. In this case, the restriction was working weight so the telescopic crawler crane was switched to the clamp crane as the works progressed.
