L5, based in Avesta and Luleå, Sweden, has been a Carlson Machine Control dealer for Europe with emphasis on Scandinavia since 2013. It distributes the complete range of Carlson Machine Control systems, but focuses on DrillGrade for surface drill rigs and Carlson Machine Control mining applications.

Kevitsa is located in the very north of Finland, 130km inside the Arctic Circle. Average annual production at Kevitsa is currently estimated to reach 10,000t of nickel and 20,000t of copper.

Martin Lindgren, L5 Navigation Systems co-founder, said: "The drill rigs are owned by the subcontractor E. Hartikainen. The systems will be used for precise 3-D navigation to every designed drill hole. In total, E. Hartikainen now has eight Atlas Copco drilling rigs running with Carlson DrillGrade."

L5 offers Carlson's full range of machine guidance solutions for mining operations: Carlson Grade for dozers, graders, scrapers and other surface grading machinery; ShovelGrade for excavators & shovels; DrillGrade for drilling machinery; and TruckPro, which monitors position and load information across the truck fleet. And for on-site management and inspection, L5 also offers Carlson Grade Supervisor and Carlson Fleet Manager Office.
