In Epiroc's latest update for its SmartROC T35 and T40 rigs, a new operator cabin is included. The Swedish OEM said it has been designed to boost productvity, safety and comfort.
"Our new cabin is packed with numerous improvements that will support an efficient and smooth operation, Ulf Gyllander, global product manager for Epiroc's Surface division, said.
The SmartROC T35 and T40 will now benefit from a quieter cabin and reduced vibration levels, as well as being lighter and more spacious, the OEM said.
"Our new cabin will increase the comfort for the operator in many ways, which helps to reduce fatigue and keep productivity high," Gyllander said.
Several new features have been added to make it safer, as they can now be controlled from inside the cabin. "The less the operator has to be put in the way of potential dangers, the better it is from a safety point of view," Gyllander explained.

A brand-new blast-resistance glass option is also a significant safety benefit, as it has been designed to help prevent flying debris from penetrating the cabin space. The glass area also gives the operator a "fantastic" view over the drill area and top of the mast.
"The blast-resistance glass combined with a much-improved air-filtering system, which reduces dust levels in the cabin, will improve both safety and work environment for personnel, Gylllander added.
The new generation SmartROC T35/T40 also includes new options, such as a bit grinder, to help operators ensure that rig drilling performance is kept to a maximum at all times.
"We believe that this generation SmartROC T35 and T40 builds on the legacy we have built up from the previous generations. These new rigs offer the same reliability, but boost productivity, further reduce costs and TCO whilst also substantially increasing operator comfort," Gyllander concluded.
