Bauer Group has secured an order to supply foundation engineering equipment for the new 142km high-speed rail link between Yerköy and Kayseri, Türkiye.
The Germany-headquartered company was contracted by a joint venture comprising Doğuş, Çelikler and Özkar, responsible for the foundation engineering works for the entire line.
28 Bauer units will be deployed in a scope of supply that includes drilling rigs, pile drivers and mixing plants. These include BG 33, BG 36, and BG 45 drilling rigs, RG 22 S and RG 27 S pile drivers, and CMS 30 mixing plants
The drilling rigs are installing piles down to a depth of 30m using the Kelly drilling method. These piles provide ground improvement for the rail line and serve as foundation elements for bridges and viaducts.
In parallel, the single column mixing (SCM) method is used to improve the soil. A mixing tool blends the in-situ ground with a binding agent injected during penetration. The SCM columns are being installed up to a depth of 31.5m.
A decisive factor in securing the supply contract was the favourable lead time. The machines were manufactured at Bauer's Aresing plant and delivered within a few months after receiving the order, according to the manufacturer.
Currently under construction, the new rail line will slash journey time between the two cities from seven hours to just two. Passengers and freight will pass through 15 tunnels, 118 underpasses and 18 bridges. Groundbreaking took place in July 2022.
Meanwhile, at the time of writing, Bauer announced that Prof. Dr. Bastian Fuchs and Klaus Pöllath are stepping down from the company's Supervisory Board at their own request.
Dr. Martin Thormann and Dirk Pförtner, members of the Executive Board, expressed their sincere thanks to both of them for their commitment, valuable input, and the constructive cooperation in supporting the development of group.
The departing Supervisory Board members welcome the planned succession by qualified and competent colleagues and wish the company, its managers, owners, and all employees continued success and all the best.
