As the popularity of renewable energy options continues to increase, so too does the number of geothermal drilling projects being undertaken. In response to this, Italian drill rig manufacturer Fraste has brought to market its revolutionary Fraste GT Robot geothermal drilling rig.

The Fraste GT Robot marks a significant leap forward in geothermal drilling technology, heralding what the Italian manufacturer believes will be a revolution in the field.

The market has been clamouring for a solution to the cumbersome task of manoeuvring 3m rods and casing tubes without manual intervention for years. Now Fraste has unveiled its answer to this longstanding demand: its innovative "Hands-Free" Manoeuvring System.

This revolutionary double rotary machine boasts a unique capability to handle 3m drill pipes and casings simultaneously, setting a new standard in efficiency and productivity. The patented double racks, with a capacity of approximately 200m for both drill rods and casings onboard, represent a groundbreaking advancement that eliminates the need for frequent reloading, thereby maximising uptime and reducing operational disruptions. Frate states it is indeed a real ‘'game changer'' in the geothermal drilling market.

Autonomous

Designed to operate independently, the totally autonomous GT Robot can optionally incorporate an Autonomous Recovery System for rods and casings, eliminating the need for operator intervention during these critical processes. By leveraging advanced software-driven operations, Fraste states that the rig can ensure precision and reliability, cancelling the risk of errors and enhancing operational safety. The integration of a remote-control system provides operators with a comprehensive view of the entire work site, further enhancing safety and efficiency.

The GT robot is available in two versions with 275hp and 170hp diesel engines, allowing it to offer the versatility to meet various project requirements.

Equipped with a radio remote control, it eliminates the need for a physical control panel, streamlining operation and enhancing user convenience.

The machine's impressive features include an 18t pull-up force and a 30t bottom mast casing lifter, underscoring its robust capabilities.

With a rod rack capacity of 66 rods OD 89 x 3000mm and a casing rack capacity of 66 casing pipes OD 152 x 3000mm, totalling 198m each, the GT Robot ensures extended operation without interruption, further boosting productivity.
