Westpile, which started out as West's Rotinoff Piling Construction Company in 1924, was bought by Bachy in 2003 and merged with Simplex in 2010.

According to Bachy Soletanche managing director, Chris Merridew, the decision comes after a review of the businesses which started late last year. "Our fleet and staff have been shared for several years, so the operating approach has become very similar between the businesses. From a client's perspective, the changes will result in improved project delivery whilst maintaining the personal relationships made over time."

Current projects being handled by Westpile will continue to be delivered under the Westpile brand, but new projects will be undertaken by Bachy Soletanche.

Barry Osborn who is general manager for BSL South will lead the combined business in the South with David Parker of Westpile maintaining his key role as estimating manager and leading the tendering in the combined business.
