I-Pulse, the company founded by technology and mining entrepreneur Robert Friedland to bring high pulsed power technology to the mining and geothermal sectors, has acquired CSI Technologies.

CSI is a California-based capacitor specialist with five decades of experience manufacturing high-performance, high-energy, and high-voltage capacitors.

The acquisition aims to drive forward I-Pulse's strategy to expand high pulsed power to unlock competitive geothermal base-load energy sources and make critical mineral production more efficient.

I-Pulse's high pulsed power technology compresses small amounts of energy in a tiny fraction of a second to repeatedly release brief yet immensely powerful electrical discharges.

Friedland (pictured), I-Pulse CEO & Founder, believes by combining I-Pulse's engineering capabilities with CSI's capacitor expertise, "we are uniquely positioned to drive game-changing industry transformation".

Since 2007, I-Pulse has been working on developing high pulsed power, previously the domain of military research, for commercialisation across the mining, manufacturing and geothermal industries.

The technology takes a very small amount of electricity (enough to charge a smartphone) and turns it into bursts of power that can equal the output of a nuclear plant.
