TMG takes on AMS

TMG Manufacturing and TMG Drilling Supplies have entered into a partnership with AMS, a developer and manufacturer of geotechnical and environmental soil sampling tooling and equipment, direct push sampling equipment and tooling and well management products, to distribute its products.

The AMS hollow stem auger geotech sampler hand tool kit

The range of geotechnical and environmental soil sampling hand tooling from AMS includes a basic soil sampling kit, Hollowstem auger kit, gas vapour probe kit and a piezometer groundwater sampling kit.

The basic soil sampling kit allows users to auger up to 12ft in most materials and collect soil core samples.

To reach depths of up to 6ft, the portable AMS Hollowstem auger kit cuts a 3in diameter hole and with an ID of 1-1/8in, it is suitable for soil, soil gas and groundwater sampling through a cased hole. A special 24in long Hollowstem soil probe with a 7/8in OD with a slide hammer is included to allow collection of a soil sample through the auger. The AMS gas vapour probes may be used through these augers telescopically and bailers up to 1in diameter may be used to collect groundwater samples.

AMS' gas vapour probe (GVP) kit use an AMS slide hammer or an electric rotary drive hammer and GVP drive extensions to insert a stainless steel GVP tip to the desired sampling depth. Fluoropolymer tubing is attached to a barb fitting on the GVP tip for remote sampling from the surface. Two GVP tips are available for use with AMS GVP kits - dedicated gas vapour tips and the AMS Retract-A-Tip.

Completing the line of hand tools is the AMS piezometer groundwater sampling kit, designed in response to AMS' clients' need for a manually-operated sampling kit, capable of providing a semi-permanent sampling point for water level measurements and shallow groundwater sampling investigations. The kit includes everything needed to take groundwater measurements and collect samples to a depth of 12ft below ground surface.
