Borehole Solutions to demonstrate sonic drill at Geotechnica

During this year’s Geotechnica event near Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, UK, Borehole Solutions will be providing demonstrations of sonic drilling.

During the two-day geotechnical conference and exhibition Borehole Solutions will have an Eijkelkamp SonicSampDrill SmallRotoSonic (SRS ML) on site and operating in the outdoor area.

Eijkelkamp's SRS ML is the smallest 150Hz sonic drill rig available in the market. Yet despite its small size, it is capable of delivering a sonic impact force of 15,000kg.

The rig is described by Rutger van Goethem of Eijkelkamp as being is extremely suited for geotechnical and environmental site investigation. Talking about the rig's use in the UK he says: "It is very successful in the London area. It is a good setup for sonic sampling combined with SPT testing and UT100/U4 sampling in all overburden materials. Even in the difficult layers in London, it outperforms other drilling technologies on speed and sample quality."

Engine options on the SRS ML are either a 100hp, Tier 3 Interim, EU Stage III, EPA Tier 4 Interim Caterpillar C3.4 diesel or a 120hp, Tier 4 Final, EU Stage IV, EPA Tier 4 Final Caterpillar C3.4 diesel.
