Sunward has delivered a SWCH590-125M pile driver to Taiwan where it will be used on Taipei's MRT expansion project, of which construction work on the north section of the capital city's circular line is now underway.

The Sunward machine was selected due to Taiwan's challenging ground conditions, which tend to alternate between soft and hard strata. The project requires drilling holes of 1m in diameter and up to 28m deep.

The SWCH590-125M machine can be equipped with various attachments including long augers, hydraulic hammers, DTH hammers, and single/multi-axis mixing drills, enabling one machine to handle multiple applications and significantly improving construction flexibility.

With a total length of 14.93km, the circular line north section project includes 12 underground stations and one underground depot. Work is in progress with  erection of support structures and construction of the main structure and the depot taking shape.

Construction of intermediate piles is currently being carried out at Wuhua Street and Jixian Road, which runs between Taipei's Luzhou District and Sanchong District.
