Dr Sauer & Partners has been providing detailed design of excavation and support for the primary lining of the tunnels that are currently being constructed under Jerusalem. At the time of reporting more than 65 per cent of the tunnels have already been excavated by Dr Sauer & Partners' client Electra Infrastructure, including partly below the light rail train tracks.

The project in North Jerusalem includes the construction of four tunnels in total, which will be built running a distance of 3.5km. The project is one of the most important in the region. Once complete, traffic will travel along Road 1 from Tel Aviv to the Dead Sea and towards Northern Jerusalem, flowing freely without the requirement for traffic lights. The project aims to ease the congestion for residents in and around North Jerusalem travelling into the city.
