Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) welcomed a record number of stakeholders, customers, dealers and suppliers this week as more than 4000 guests head to Eskilstuna, Sweden for Volvo Days 2026.

Over the next few weeks, industry folk will have an opportunity to explore Volvo CE's latest machine and digital innovations – and meet the people behind them – as the OEM demonstrates a shift towards more integrated, digital solutions to help its quarrying, mining and construction customers remain competitive and stay ahead of the curve.

"Across international markets, our customers face very different realities. Our role is to be a trusted partner, helping them navigate change with the right mix of machines, technologies, and services," said Hanna Ihnatovich, Volvo CE's Head of Region International.

Given Volvo CE's accelerated investment in product development over recent years, Volvo Days 2026 will showcase about 80 new and updated machine models, alongside a 50% extension to its services portfolio. Nearly 16,000 next-generation machines are now in operation worldwide, delivering improvements in productivity, efficiency, and total cost of ownership.

"Volvo Days is about showing, not telling," said Melker Jernberg, President of Volvo CE. "In an increasingly complex world, we have made clear choices about where to focus and invest. What we are demonstrating here is how those decisions translate into real impact for our customers, as we move closer to their operations, respond faster, and strengthen resilience in an uncertain environment."

An event highlight will almost certainly be the hullaballoo around the European debut of the ECR255 and ECR355 short-swing crawler excavators, demonstrated alongside the compact ECR90, EC65 and wheeled EW65, and the EC560 models.

Electrification is also likely to be a major focus at the event with displays of "green power" designed to radiate competitive strength amidst Chinese expansion. For instance, Volvo CE's A40 Electric articulated hauler - now in serial production alongside the A30 Electric – will be showcased along with the EWR150 Electric, highlighting the growing breadth of Volvo CE's electric offering.

Alongside advancements in electrification, digital innovation will also figure heavily during the Volvo days, with Site Solutions having a dedicated presence on the agenda for the first time. By combining connectivity with data-driven insights, Volvo CE says  the tech can help customers optimise performance and make smarter decisions, supporting the next era of construction.

In addition to its technological investments, the Swedish OEM is also strengthening its industrial and retail footprint to shorten lead times and mitigate supply chain disruptions. In Europe, this includes a SEK9.2 billion investment, with SEK 702 million for a new excavator assembly facility in Eskilstuna, Sweden, set to begin production in 2028. The plant will produce up to 3,500 machines annually as volumes ramp up, marking Volvo CE's first excavator manufacturing in Sweden.

This investment is complemented by the acquisition of Swecon, expanding Volvo CE's presence and providing direct access to around 70% of its retail operations in Europe.  A key element in capturing future growth, the acquisition strengthens Volvo CE's position in the value chain and secures the customer interface, enabling closer customer proximity and deeper relationships.

The company says this "unlocks new value" through integrated, solution-based offerings while increasing penetration of services, parts, and workshop solutions, driving higher profitability, more resilient earnings, and supporting the company's broader transformation towards sustainable site solutions.

Carl Slotte, Volvol CE's Head of Region Europe, said: "Eskilstuna is a powerful symbol of our commitment to Europe. By investing closer to our customers, we are strengthening our ability to respond faster, collaborate more closely, and support them in staying competitive in a rapidly changing market."

Volvo Days 2026 has always been more than a demonstration of technological might, and aside from the advanced machines on display, Volvo CE is showing that strategic investments are delivering results. By combining innovation with industrial strength and closer customer relationships, Volvo CE is equipping customers with the solutions they need to stay competitive and succeed in an increasingly complex and demanding world.
