This year marks MTI Equipment's 40th anniversary, having started selling equipment to the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) sector in the same year that Tom Cruise hit the big time with Top Gun, Robert Palmer got "Addicted to Love", Maradona stopped football coming home with his "Hand of God", and there was a melt down in Chernobyl. It was, of course, 1986.
Since then, Florida-headquartered MTI has sold over 5000 drills and has evolved to become one of leading players in preowned HDD equipment, globally.
The company was acquired in 2012 Ditch Witch/Charles Machine Works only to be bought back five years later when the organisation completed a strategic re-acquisition, restoring MTI to its independent, family-owned roots.
Alain Trimble, a member of the ownership team, reflected on the milestone: "Reaching 40 years in business is an incredible milestone for our company. This achievement would not be possible without the trust of our customers, the collaboration of our partners, and, most importantly, the dedication of our employees. Their hard work, commitment, and pride in what we do every day are the true foundation of our success."
The company currently operates from a 40,000ft2 facility on 13acres, serving a customer base across more than 40 countries.
